| Core Training vs. Exercise Machines Core Training or exercise machines... The reality is that any dynamic movement that engages your core stabilizers is a great exercise.
Unfortunately, most fixed axis ratio machines do not give you total body recruitment. These machines isolate muscles for appearance not function. For example, nothing can challenge the body's power, anaerobic endurance, and agility, like squats and/or lunges. A leg press, hip sled or Smith machine doesn't engage nearly half as many muscles as are used for a simple squat.
A good trainer prescribing a weight-bearing program will provide several options the most beneficial programs combining resistance training, cardio endurance, and flexibility.
